Samba de Gafieira
The Samba, a pre-eminent Brazilian dance, has become famous through the yearly Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Carnival type Samba is a free, powerful, and fun solo dance.
Hips, legs and feet move synchronously on a quick, whipping rhythm, as well as on a slow and romantic Bossa Nova or Samba de Pagode. Particularly in Rio de Janeiro the Samba is also popular as a partner dance, known as ‘Samba de Gafieira’, literally ‘Ballroom Samba’. However, this dance is very different from the classic Ballroom Samba that is danced competitively in the United States and in Europe. Dos Bailadores provides original Brazilian classes and workshops Samba de Gafieira.
